Contact Jake
Are you legally authorised to marry us?

Yes. Jake Smith is an authorised Commonwealth Civil Marriage Celebrant. He can prepare and witness your NOIM, conduct your ceremony, and lodge all paperwork so your marriage is legally registered in Australia.

Do you only perform Christian wedding ceremonies?

No. While Jake is a Christian pastor and happily performs Christian ceremonies, most of the weddings he conducts are not religious. He creates warm, relaxed ceremonies for couples of any belief or background.

How far in advance should we book?

Popular dates book out early, especially weekends. Most couples enquire 6–18 months ahead. If your wedding is sooner, it’s still worth checking — Jake often has midweek and short-notice availability.

What does your fee include?

Jake’s fee covers planning sessions, ceremony writing, PA system use, rehearsing key moments with you, travel within the service area, conducting the ceremony, and lodging all legal paperwork with Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Do you help with writing vows?

Absolutely. Jake provides guidance, examples, and a simple structure to help you craft vows that feel natural and personal. If writing isn’t your thing, he’ll gently coach you through it.

What documents do we need to get married?

You’ll need ID such as a passport or birth certificate plus photo ID. If either of you has been married before, you’ll need evidence of divorce or your previous partner’s death. Jake will guide you through all requirements.

When do we need to lodge the NOIM?

The Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged with Jake at least one month before the wedding date. He’ll help you complete and submit it correctly so everything is legally compliant.

Do you do elopements or small weddings?

Yes. Jake loves intimate weddings. Whether it’s two people and a witness or a tiny gathering with close family, he’ll create a ceremony that still feels meaningful and well-supported.

Will you travel for our wedding?

Jake regularly performs weddings across Brisbane and surrounding regions, and he’s open to travelling further by arrangement. Travel fees may apply depending on distance and timing.

How long does a typical ceremony run?

Most ceremonies run around 18–25 minutes, depending on readings, rituals and how you want the moment to feel. Jake keeps things engaging, personal and well-paced.

Do you attend rehearsals?

Rehearsals are optional. Many couples don't need one, but Jake can attend for an additional fee if you'd like extra support or your venue requires it.

Can we meet you before booking?

Yes. Jake is happy to have a quick video chat so you can make sure he feels like the right fit. There’s no pressure and no obligation — just a friendly conversation.

What happens after the wedding?

Jake submits your marriage documents to Births, Deaths and Marriages. You can then order your official marriage certificate directly from BDM in your state once processing is complete.
